Approach to Doing Business in China
Proven Methodology
The company has developed a trademarked methodology to assist companies through the key areas of exploring opportunities in China. Companies should be well prepared in advance of their meetings, have support throughout their mission, and a plan and ability to follow up with opportunities that are uncovered.

The first step towards a successful China initiative is to be well informed about conducting business with the Chinese. The following are a list of steps recommended to assist clients in obtaining success in China.
- The Opportunity Builder – This step will allow ACBN to qualify the opportunity by providing clients with important market research information. This information will give companies the ability to make an informed decision about moving on to the next step.
- The Project Game Plan – This step is about developing key elements of the project plan including setting key dates, targets, required resources, and determining an overall project budget.
- The Insight Expander – This is a two-way exchange of information. ACBN delivers a China In-Sight Training seminar to educate clients on customs and cultural matters, and address some of the key nuances of doing business in China (i.e. negotiation tactics, contracts). It is important to speak to prospective suppliers, clients, and partners in their language. The clients’ marketing and communications materials will be reviewed to prepare for translation and to identify key messages for potential matches.
- The Communications Edge – ACBN’s communication specialists will translate all relevant marketing and communications material which may include business cards, brochures, presentations, business contracts and website pages. Upon completion of the translation, ACBN will send out the relevant information to key contacts in China to solicit interest and determine potential matches.
- The Working Planner – Before departing for China, an itinerary will be provided to clients. ACBN will coordinate matchmaking meetings prior to the China Mission and provide specific information about the target clients/partners.
- The Mission Navigator – On-the-ground assistance will be provided throughout the mission by English and Mandarin speaking ACBN resources. ACBN will make arrangements for all in-China travel and meeting logistics including hotel bookings, in country flights, etc. Translation, negotiation, and presentation assistance will also be provided during business meetings and discussions.
- The Debrief Advantage - It is a common occurrence for companies to generate a great deal of interest during business meetings in China, however, many find it difficult to continue the momentum once they return to Canada. At the conclusion of the mission, ACBN can work with the clients to develop a set of follow up activities. ACBN will assist clients in strategy development, translating written correspondence (i.e. emails, proposals, contracts, etc), and by providing translation services during conference calls.)
- The Next Steps Maximizer – ACBN is committed to assisting its clients over the long term. We have an office and resources in Beijing and Shenzhen and make regular trips to China from Atlantic Canada. ACBN is open to assisting clients during return visits and/or potentially representing their interests in China in an ongoing fashion.
